Bryan Klooster's Theos: Behold, the infinite

05/02/13  ||  Cobal

Progressive metal is hard to judge if you ask me. Trust me on this one, deciding whether or not I like a particular release is almost my only criterion when it comes to this sub-genre. What I like about “Behold, the infinite” is its minimalistic approach towards progressive music. While progressiveness has been often mistaken for virtuosity, Bryan Klooster doesn’t need huge instrumentations or an “impressive” production to convey his complex ideas. There’s even some crudity, if you like. Also, I like some figures the guitars play quite repetitively and manage to be mesmerizing. Growls didn’t do shit for me.

7.5/10: Not bad at all. Bizarre. Good. Not bad.
